Winters Dove Fest will award a $1000 scholarship to a current Winters High School Junior to be applied toward a university/college of their choice.

Winters Dove Fest

2018 Scholarship Essay Contest

Contest Information

The essay contest is open to high school juniors of Winters High School for the 2017-2018 school year. The Dove Fest Scholarship committee may verify enrollment with Winters ISD.
Contestants must compose an original essay on the official topic. Essays must be typewritten, and each page should be numbered. Please use a cover page with your name, but do not put your name on the essay itself – only on the cover page.
Judging will be completed by a panel of three qualified judges, who are not acquainted with the contestants. The essays will be assigned a contestant number to conceal the identity of the contestant from the judges. The judging will be based on material organization, grammar and style.
The winning essay contestant will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship will be payable to the educational institution of the subject’s choice upon enrolment and must be used in a school located in the United States. The winner of the scholarship must claim their scholarship by August of 2020.
The scholarship winner will be notified prior to the Dove Fest and it is mandatory that she/he be present during the luncheon on September 2 to receive the award.
All contestants must complete an entry form signed by both the contestant and the contestant’s parent/legal guardian. The deadline to submit the entry form and essay is May 1, 2018. Entries may be emailed to (please be sure you receive a confirmation email that the entry was received), or turned in to Bee’s Quilting in Winters. If you are emailing, please scan the entry form with signatures and attach it along with the essay.
